How Long Do They Last? Are They Safe?

Implants are a well-established and safe treatment. They look like natural teeth and last so long as you give oral care for them. That also includes your regular visits for a routine dental checkup. 

If you neglect your implants, they also develop a coating similar to the natural teeth and, when left untreated, they can lead to gum infection, bleeding, soreness, and general discomfort. But if you look after your implants, and if the bone they are fitted to is strong and healthy, they will last for many years. But there is no lifetime guarantee.

Do Dental Implants Hurt?

An implant is usually placed while using a local anesthetic, and it is often an easier process than a tooth extraction. You will not feel pain during surgery but may feel a little discomfort during the week after it. At times your dentist may give you a sedative if you are nervous or if it is a complicated case. General anesthetics are used for complex cases and are rarely used for implants.
